Malayalam Actor-Filmmaker Sreenivasan Passes Away at 69

Kerala: Veteran Malayalam actor, screenwriter and filmmaker Sreenivasan passed away in Kochi. The renowned director was 69. Eminent personalities from the different fields including INC MP Shashi Tharoor, actor Kamal Haasan and other expressed their grief after the demise of the renowned filmmaker.

Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal also paid homage to renowned Malayalam actor, Sreenivasan who passed away this morning.

Shashi Tharoor expressing his grief over the actor's demise, posted on X, ''Malayalam cinema won't be the same without the genius of Sreenivasan. From the satirical bites of “Sandesham”to the raw emotion of “Vadakkunokkiyantram”, he taught us to laugh at ourselves while thinking deeper. A true master of the craft who redefined what it means to be a "hero" on screen, & who was an effective director as well.''

He added, ''Beyond the actor was a brilliant writer who captured the pulse of Kerala like no other. Sreenivasan’s scripts are time capsules of social commentary, humor, and unparalleled wit. There will never be another observer of life quite like him.''

It is to be noted here that the mortal remains of veteran Malayalam actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker Sreenivasan have been taken to his residence in Kandanad. Cremation rituals of the actor will be done at 10 am on Sunday.
